If you have an Infiniti J30 in your shop that is experiencing hesitation or loss of power symptoms, make sure the throttle chamber plates are properly synchronized. The adjusters locknut may come loose with age and engine vibration.
If the adjuster locknuts are okay and all base adjustments are within specs, check the camshaft position sensor visually by removing it. Check for red "rust dust" in the drive pin housing. The drive pin mates half-moon to half-moon with the camshaft. The sensor drive pin may be "beat up" due to back and forth movement. R&R the sensor to resolve the problem.
